The re-entry journey proves to be challenging for most individuals post-incarceration. There are many barriers that individuals face when it comes to securing housing or a job and obtaining identification documentation. Depending on the amount of time that the individual spent incarcerated, technology and ways of life can drastically change, even if they are incarcerated for less than five years. Having no job, no housing, no money and often times lacking a support system or family, individuals can feel overwhelmed. This can cause them to spiral again and recidivate, ending back up in prison.
Resources need to be made more available for those who are reentering society post-incarceration. Making the transition as smooth as possible is vital for an individual’s success in their community. TRACKtech’s CEO, Michael Hirschman, had the opportunity to be featured on Kardell Sims podcast, The Re-Entry Journey, episode 16. Their interview dives into how “technology is paving the way for positive change and reducing recidivism.” Michael and Kardell discuss a new wave of electronic devices and monitoring that are helping make reentry smooth for offenders and agencies. Reentry is an important topic when it comes to reducing recidivism and providing individuals with the help and resources they need post incarceration.
TRACKtech is working to improve the reentry experience for both individuals and their agencies. TRACKtech has created and developed an evidence-based, data-driven, mobile platform that offers comprehensive rehabilitation and compliance monitoring capabilities. Our solution enhances communication, monitors risks and provides an approach to enhance recovery and support reentry requirements within the criminal justice industry. TRACKtech solutions can help probation and parole officers support their clients by providing behavioral health programs, reentry programs, life skills and programs, and access to housing, education, and job listings. Our solutions also provide a way for PO’s and their clients to improve communication with one another, making checking in, assessing risky situations, and keeping compliant easier. Providing individuals with resources and programs when re-entering society is important for them to be successful and have a smooth transition.
